Learn About AgTEC
AgTEC is the workforce initiative within the Fresno Merced Future of Food (F3) Innovation Initiative which aims to create a pipeline of high-skilled workers through an 8-community college consortium that will transform the delivery of ag education in the Central Valley. Once created, the program will train up to 8,400 workers - half of which will be targeted towards transitioning those highest at risk of losing their jobs due to automation (1 in 3 jobs at risk for automation)into higher paying jobs. The 8 community colleges will partner with farmworker organizations and industry to help develop Competency-Based education and create the first of its kind regional agri-food systems certificate.
Agriculture is the economic lifeblood of the Central Valley and a central driver of the nation’s food supply . F3 brings together partners from a five-county region (Merced, Madera, Fresno, Tulare, Kings) to build a climate smart ag economy that centers around disinvested workers and addresses the most pressing climate issues including clean air and water.
